About me

An unexamined life is not worth living.''

(Socrates)

I believe that therapy at its best is transformative. I’ve been in the 'other chair' on many occasions throughout my life. Therapy has helped me work through my own difficulties and created the space for me to work out how I feel about things. It’s given me insight and understanding into who I am and what I’m about.

As a counsellor and psychotherapist, I believe that creating and developing a therapeutic relationship with my clients is key. I will work collaboratively with you; meeting you where you are now. I am able to create a safe, warm and confidential space where you can be heard without judgment. I'm trained to listen carefully, attentively and compassionately to both what you do and don't say. During our sessions we can work in any way that suits you, whether that's a conversation or something a little more creative.

My background is in academia: I studied English Literature and Psychology at Nottingham Trent University and I have an MA in Philosophy and Contemporary English Literature from Goldsmiths College, London. I trained to be a counsellor at the Iron Mill College in Exeter, completing both certificate and diploma courses there. As part of this training, I undertook placement work at both Mid Devon Community Family Trust (https://mdcft.org.uk/) and the Dartmoor Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy (https://dartmoorcounselling.org/) where I continued to volunteer for a further six months after my training formally ended. I am fully insured and have a DBS certificate. I am a registered member of BACP and I am an accredited member of NCPS.

I'm passionate about working with folks from the LGBTQ+ community. In October 2023 I completed training with Gendered Intelligence : 'Working alongside Trans, Gender Diverse and Gender Questioning people.' I am also a member of their counselling directory. I am also an active member of TACTT: Therapists Against Conversion Therapy and Transphobia.

I am a member of Psychotherapists and Counsellors for Social Responsibility and offer concessionary sessions for counselling for those who otherwise could not access therapy - as I believe everyone should be able to have counselling, regardless of their circumstances. (These slots are currently occupied as of Spring 2024).

At heart, I'm a Philosopher. I believe that in the Counselling room, we can uncover your stories, your thoughts and your truths. Let's go on this journey together.
